About Michael Mark

I love Beaufort. Growing up in downtown I always thought “elsewhere” had to be better. Maybe there would be more opportunity, maybe the fishing is better, maybe the oak trees are prettier. Well I made several adventures out of the area including Kodiak, Alaska, but nothing beats home.  My love of the outdoors is a perfect fit with the Lowcountry. We enjoy year round fishing and golf. I enjoy fishing for spot tail bass, trout and flounder, also I love to go offshore for dolphin, king mackerel and sail fish. Very few places can offer all of these choices and have beauty and history.

After graduating from the University of South Carolina with a degree in finance, I came back into my family business in 1985. Just as my father had done, I also started buying and selling rental houses and other investment properties.  I secured a real estate license and started helping friends buy or sell houses.

My family has owned furniture stores in Beaufort since the 1950’s. My brother and I built the premier home furnishings and mattress destination for Beaufort in 1999. Innovative design and endless hours made it a success. After 23 years of decorating and managing, I was in need of a change.

In January of 2008, I sold my share of the store and made being a Realtor a full time career. This may seem like a terrible time to make this move but hard work and long hours are what I have been used to all of my adult life. This also is a time when you can take the time to really help a client. While many realtors are getting out of the business, I am working hard to expand my business and give clients what they deserve.
